The Inspiration
20 years ago
At the time I conceived The Elevator, I was working an office job. It was a quiet gig full of paperwork, data entry, and early morning meetings I struggled to stay awake through. The schedule was consistent...repetitive. I liked the job because I was allowed to play music out loud. But, what I liked most about this job—I had my own desk and computer, and during my downtime I was able to do a ton of writing.
One particular day, I was returning from lunch as I had at the same time everyday, riding the elevator up to my office, and suddenly, I had a flicker of a vision—a thrillingly eerie thought...
What if when the elevator doors open, everything is destroyed and everyone is gone?
ABOUT NELL
Her writing aspirations began at the age of 12, but often took a back seat to her performance career. Now, she’s boldly set forth, fulfilling her lifelong dream of being a published author.
Drawing on her stage experience and love of cinematic storytelling, Nell infuses her writing with rhythm, emotion, and a performer’s instinct for timing. Her debut science-fiction series, The Elevator, weaves together her passion for character-driven drama, high-stakes action, and themes of hope and resilience. Through both her art and her writing, Nell is dedicated to inspiring others to hold on to light, even in the darkest of times.
